Bye bye blogger

I've been wanting to switch to tumblr for a while now. I wanted to build my own theme first, but finding the time to do that (and learn all the stuff necessary to do that) is harder than I thought. Especially when there are so many good banjo lessons on youtube. Consider this blog moved to tumblr. From now on I'll be posting at http://kevincorrigan.tumblr.com

Epic blog post spans ten pages, so sick

Pat Cassels wrote a great blog post about one of the things we do to amuse ourselves, and hopefully our users, at work. Check it out, dude!

Board Games

Dear Diary,
The first script I've ever written made it's way onto CHTV today. I might be biased, but I really think it's the best looking video they've done. The production quality is just killer. You should watch it because if you're reading my blog I'm going to assume you love me.

I love you, too.

Obliged,
Kev

ps A funny way to leave off with someone is by saying "I hope you find what you're looking for."

Picture Pictures

When my friends at my old school humor/opinions magazine told me they needed mustache pictures for their new issue I was happy to oblige.

Since the very beginning of my freshman year back at Rowan I put all my time into Venue. It's where I made all my friends, where I learned most of what I know about writing/publishing, and it was as much fun as it was hard work. I'm glad to see that the magazine is chugging along just fine without me. The new issues look great guys, good job.

I can't link to them because they're no longer on the Internet. GET WITH THE PROGRAM GUYS IT'S 2008!

Honest College Ad

I've written a couple scripts for CHTV lately and the first of them made their way to the Internet today. I'm excited!

Normally in these situations I embed the video on my blog. Not today. It's like Cloverfield, you really need to watch it at Collegehumor in full-screen to get the most out of it. In it's place, here's a picture I drew on the plane to Tokyo called "Hot Air Bearloon."

Potential New Friend

I recently purchased the book Guru about Del Close used from Amazon. I just opened it up today and was super-excited to find out that someone named Josh had written their number in the back of the book. I can't wait to finish the book so I can call Josh and talk about it. I hope that's why he or someone else wrote his number there.

Today's Big Thing

Hi Internet,
I run a Web site. It's called Today's Big Thing. Every day I go and find the awesomest video of the day and post it. It's pretty simple. I've been doing it since October, actually. I'm not sure how this went un-blogged for so long. Sorry about that, to you and the Web site. Anyway, you should check it out. Every day. And subscribe to the rss feed. And the e-mail list. And tell your friends. And make it your homepage. And digg every video I post.

Today during the course of daily promotion of the site I submitted this video to Fark. It got accepted, which I'm excited about. But the really funny part is the Fark comment thread. Of, currently, 191 posts, probably 160 of them are about a typo I made in the headline.

Seeking:

I'm looking for someone to be my web development guru that I can go to with questions and who won't think it's annoying. I'm going to start working on a super-secret, fun idea I had a couple months ago and the first step is for me to get better at web design than building everything with tables. If you wouldn't mind helping and know css then e-mail me at kevinjcorrigan (at) gmail (dot) com. No pay, but if you're really helpful I'll buy you a pizza.

Phone Fight!

I'm excited about this video because it's the first Hardly Working I've been involved with in a long time, because I'm the thumbnail, and because my face is also the thumbnail on digg. I feel like I'm bragging when I tell people this was job-related.

I uploaded my first set of pictures from my trip to Japan and Korea. You can find them on the Internet.

Pythons in the news

I was reading the article "Bone-breaking fight pulls kitten from python's jaws" on news.com.au when I saw the box above. This leads me to believe that they are, hands down, the best source for python-related news in the world. Great job, guys. Give yourself a pat on the back.

Bootleggers

My Dad and I just bottled our first homebrew. I've made beer before, but it was his first time. It was fun to teach him how to do something for a change. The beer is based on pilsner urquell from the Czech Republic. The bottle we're holding is the first bottle we bottled.

He's still got it!

After releasing a so-so album (The Wolf) and a shitty record (Close Calls with Brick Walls), Andrew WK has just reminded me why I was ever obsessed with him in the first place.

Check out this new clip
Mp3 available for download at the bottom of the post. The story behind the song is explained on the page. I don't really get it, but it rocks HARD!

Pictrs

I finally started uploading pictures to Flickr. You can find them by using the link conveniently located on the right side of the page, or by clicking here. This will become more interesting after I go to Japan and South Korea in two weeks.

Hello Face

Whiskerino ended the other day. I have not shaved or trimmed my beard since Nov 1. This doesn't mean my face is coming back. I haven't decided what I'll do about my beard yet. I have heard of a magical thing called a "yeard" which is what happens when you don't shave for a year. It sounds pretty incredible. Here's Whiskerino creator Mackle sporting a yeard (I think). I'm considering it.

Vimeo dude and awesome photographer, Justin, took pics of us before and after Whiskerino.

After

We're missing a Neil in the second photo, but another pic is on the way soon.

Future me

My friend Rob just e-mailed this picture he found of me from the future. I think it's pretty accurate.
In other news I'm in the process of moving this blog to tumblr and building a new layout. So expect that to happen sooner or someday. I may even link kevinjcorrigan.com to it, which I've owned for about a year. We'll see.

I'm a Rock Band

Just a little project to play with my new camera and practice editing. I want to do a much, much bigger one if I can get a hold of a copy of Final Cut Pro. We'll see.

I never noticed how quirky that cat puzzle looked until now.

This Means War

I e-mailed the owner of kevincorrigan.com a couple days ago to ask about purchasing it. He just responded.
Sorry, but I'm holding it for my cousin Kevin F. Corrigan, he is an actor, we will be building a web site for him.

That sounds reasonable, except that he's owned the domain since 2004 and there's still nothing there.

I'm not going to publish the domain owners name e-mail here because that wouldn't be nice, but if you're bored I'd appreciate it if you took the time to do a whois search and e-mail him to tell him to sell me the domain because he's a lazy butt head and he's never going to build that site.

This only makes me want to beat the other Kevin Corrigan on google even more.

Good Read + Updates

I've been following music/movie piracy news for a long time. There was an awesome article about it on Digg today. Check it out when you have some free time. It's a long read but worth it. I've never read anything on the subject so in-depth and interesting. It's well-written and entertaining too.
On another note, ever since I bought an Xbox 360 a month ago I've been really good with managing my free time. I used to waste most of it wandering aimlessly on the Internet after work. Now I read a lot and devote time to other creative endeavors. Funny, I would have expected such a purchase to result in even more time wasting.

I have a couple Web projects in the works. One of them is very, very stupid and I'm very excited about it. It's kind of a business, but really more of an art project.
